UPCOMING HIATUS

Okay, some things have happened recently that are going to affect the distribution of the comic, and you deserve to know about them.

Most of you know that I work in Animation - I'm super duper fortunate to be in a situation where I can make a living being creative every day, in an industry that is very small and competitive. However, I've got some studio work coming up and have to put the comic on hold for contract reasons.

Therefore, unless something changes, there will be no new DotL pages between October 18, 2021 to October 24, 2022. We will still be updating with content to keep things alive here and we will have more details on that for you tomorrow.

This is why you got a bonus update today: I wanted to slip one more page in before these things go into effect.

Some FAQs:

Q: Meg, is this worth it?

A: While DotL is a passion project, it doesn't pay the bills. My full time job does. Therefore, it will always take precedence. That's the way it's always been, and I've always done my best to minimize the impact of this fact on you guys and the comic's update schedule. This situation is unique and I'm just doing my best under the current circumstances.

Q: Will the site stay up?

A: Yes, the DotL website and archives will remain available online during this time.

Q: What if you did [X]? Have you tried [X]? I think that you should [X]!

A: While your concern is deeply appreciated, this is being done on the advice of experienced (and expensive) legal counsel. We have considered many different solutions to this unusual situation, and this is the best one. Please trust us!

Q: Will you still be working on the comic?

A: YES. We just can't share anything new that we make after October 18, 2021 without coming into conflict with my current contract.

Q: What about Patreon?

A: The Patreon should now be considered a Tip Jar, as we are also not going to be posting any materials made after October 18, 2021. We would still deeply appreciate your support during this time, as our expenses (like legal fees and colorist invoices) remain unchanged. Patreon hosts 2,800+ exclusive posts that will remain accessible during this time. You can also send one-time donations via the Tip Jar to the right of every comic page.

Q: Is there anything we can do?

A: Yeah! You can support us through Patreon! You can send me tips with the Tip Jar! You can order things from the Store! You can tell people about DotL and try to get them to read it! You can check back every week as we rebroadcast older materials! Please help us keep the momentum we've built up!

Making a comic - especially a webcomic - is a marathon that spans years, sometimes decades. I am so grateful to everyone who has cheered us on from the sidelines for any amount of that time that we have been working on this one. As far as I'm concerned, this is just another small event in the lifespan of this story, that will make a pretty cool part of its history when all is said and done. I hope you all will continue to stick with us.

As always... thank you for reading. We will see you soon.
